Trevor Youngberg

Wood-fire potter, Woodbridge, CT

Trevor is a high school ceramics teacher and practicing wood-fire potter. Fostering the development of a thriving wood-fire community in Woodbridge, Connecticut is the path he has chosen in seeking personal fulfillment. Potters from around New England, and sometimes beyond, join in the surrounding processes that make up our shared immersive experience. While spending months making, we gather weekly to split and stack wood-fuel for the 5-7 day firings. Loading the kilns involves two to four days of meticulous attention; stacking each of the hundreds of pieces in the kiln with the flame path and thermal massing in mind. Each firing cycle humbles us while reminding us that a vast universe of potential lies in wait while we experience and reflect upon, in addition to the information that each firing yields, the sense of interdependence we embrace while pursuing our creative calling.
